Do Your Scripts Pass the Talk Test?

This is one of the most important filters you should put your video scripts through to make sure they will resonate with your ideal customer and audience.

As an expert in your field, you have a lot of knowledge. Chances are, you want to share that knowledge with your audience so they will see you as an authority.

This can sometimes pose a problem especially if you are talking over their heads or using language they don’t understand. This is why you want to put your scripts through a talk test.

You want to make sure that you are using language in your videos that your audience would use. You WANT your videos to sound the way they talk. Talk their talk.

This is also why it’s so important to know specifically WHO you are talking to. When you don’t have a clear idea of your target audience you simply can’t pass the talk test.

For example, say you are a doctor. You could share your information in a very clinical way or you could use layman’s terms. If you don’t know who your ideal customer (audience) is then you won’t know which way to write your script. If you don’t pick your ideal customer and dial in who you are talking to in your videos, how you communicate may do it for you!

It’s much better for you to know who you want to attract and connect with through video so you can be intentional with your scripts and talk their language.
